Donate Used iPads

Sixteen preschool-aged children participated in the Summer Bridges Academy, intended to help close language and literacy gaps before children enter kindergarten.

Made possible with the vision and philanthropic support of Chuck McMinn and the NapaLearns Board, with participation and support from Calistoga Family Center, Calistoga School District, Footsteps2Brilliance, Napa County Office of Education, Touro University and V.O.I.C.E.S., the pilot program used iPads along with traditional teaching methods to help build vocabulary and reading comprehension skills.

Parents participated as well, learning English along with their children through a relevant curriculum and the use of technology. And most importantly, parents became engaged in their child’s education – at the very beginning, in a meaningful way. Upon completion of the program, children were invited to keep the iPads and parents were given low-cost access to the Internet.

The pilot program is in the process of being expanded to preschools throughout Napa, and this unique public/private partnership will serve as a model for transforming education throughout California – and the nation.
